The start of Aura’s Tail

How are you going? My name is Aura, well that is my name now. It was Peggy. You see it started with my birth, it was pretty scary. I got stuck, died and came back to life again. I am so glad I did.

I played so much with my brother and sister and my older brother too. Oh he was so much fun. We played rough sometimes and sometimes he would hurt me, but me being me always wanted more and I went back for it. Mum was pretty grumpy, Dad not so much, but they did play much either. I loved my sleepin’ time. Curling up with my brothers and sisters.

Oh, and the horses, did I tell you about them? They were so huge, I think I was as big as their hoof. My person used to take us to feed them every day and it was such a hoot.

Then, one day, my person loaded the three of us up and took us to shop. Boring! All day we would sit, play and sleep in this damn cage. I couldn’t understand why we were here. People would come and chat, sometimes they would take us out and hold us, but they would always put us back in.  I had had enough. I was looking for an escape root. Stuff this, I wanted a yard to run in.

One day someone took my brother out and didn’t put him back. We really missed him.

Then this lady came to visit us. She came a couple of times a day for 2 days and would tell me how she wanted me to come home with her. I could just feel how much she loved me. Oh, I crossed my paws and hoped she would be the one who took me out of this stinkin’ cage and didn’t put me back.

She brought someone with her one time and they got us out. I liked that lady and crawled all over her, I was so excited. (So was she) I was sure she was here to take us home. Yippee! No more cage. But, no she put us back too.

A few very long days went by and then I got out again, just to be put in another small cage, but this time I went for a really, really long drive.

And then, and then, and then, you will never ever guess what.  I got to see her again. The lady. She hugged me so tight I thought she would squeeze my guts out, but it was sooooooo good.

I was home at last.
